Cleaning & Maintenance

One of the greatest features of Safety Rock is it is virtually maintenance free!  It never needs re-coating and nothing permanently stains it.  Below are some tips on how to keep that “newly installed” look so you can enjoy your surface year after year.

General Cleaning

As needed, simply hose or blow surface to remove dirt, leaves or debris.   You may pressure wash the surface with a 1200 – 1500 psi pressure washer.

NOTE***  If you have a greater psi than 1500, you can use it, just remember to keep the spray head at least 4 feet from the surface to avoid “cutting” the rubber.

Algae, Black Mold

Safety Rock is antibacterial and antifungal, but in some uncommon cases, black mold or algae may grow on the surface.  You can use “Safety Klean” on your surface to kill the algae and/or black mold.  Safety Klean can be obtained from your nearest Safety Rock Distributor.   Please phone or email at info@tampabeysafetysurfacing.com for more details.

Grease and/or Oil

Safety Rock is virtually indestructible; therefore harsh cleaners do not affect the rubber.  Safety Klean Grease Dissolvers can be used to clean your surface.  In general, simply spray cleaner on your surface, let is work for about 10 minutes, brush it w/a plastic bristle brush and hose it off to bring back your “like new” surface.

Tire Marks and/or Tar

Some commercial applications paint or re-top their parking lot with a product that transfers from the bottom of shoes onto the rubber surface.  The surface can even show tire marks in areas that connect to the parking lot.  Simply use Safety Klean Tar & Tire remover to solve the problem.  Spray on SKT& T, leave on for 10 minutes, and power wash to bring back your “like new” surface.

Nothing Permanently Stains Safety Rock

Another superb feature!  If you have a stubborn stain that none of the treatments have addressed, here’s a solution that will.  Get a piece of fine grit sand paper and lightly go over the stain.  This will remove whatever is on the surface of you rubber.  Safety Rock is colored all the way through so it won’t damage your surface.

*****NOTE*****
Muriatic acid or any other kind of “acid wash” discolors the rubber.  Do not use any kind of acid on the rubber surface.  Acid does not affect the integrity of the rubber, but the discoloration is very difficult to correct. It usually has to be cut out and re-installed or re-topped.  This is usually expensive.  So it’s just better to keep acid off of your surface.
